BSkyB, the owners of Sky, have announced that during the last quarter they have added 428,000 Sky+HD subscribers. There is now a total of 2,500,000 Sky HD subscribers as Sky prepares to launch 3DTV over its high-def infrastructure.
 
The 1st 3D TV went on sale in the UK last week Samsung released its 40-inch 3D set at selected John Lewis, Curry's and Comet stores. The set is priced at £1,799. Panasonic’s 3D TV model is to be launched this week.

Sharp have announced that they will begin selling 3D-capable LCD TVs in Japan this summer. They will then launch 3D TVs in China, Europe and the United States by December.

Sir David Attenborough has signed a deal with Sky to direct and produce Europe's first programme specifically for 3D TV. Sir David will be writing and presenting Flying Monsters 3D.
 
Sky 3D has launching at pubs and clubs up all over the UK. The channel kicked off with Manchester United vs Chelsea today.
